If you have to chose between staying with the person you love or leaving them because you think your not right for them, which one would you chose? In the book, “New Moon” by Stephenie Meyer, Edward had to choose between picking what he thought was best for Bella, or his unconditional love for Bella. Edward thinks that he is stopping Bella from being a normal human and wants her to live her own life. He thinks that just because he is different (he is a vampire) that they don’t belong together. He thinks she would be safer without him. By the end of the book he learns that he can kept her safe and that they can’t live without one another.
In the beginning of the story Edward wants to leave Bella because he thinks he is not good for her. On page 94 it states, “And I’ll make you promise in return. He said. I’ll promise that that will be the last time you’ll see me. I won’t put you through anything like this again. You can go on with your life without anymore interference from me. It will be as if I’d never existed.” This makes me think that Edward feel like he is holding Bella back, and that if he wasn’t with her she would be happier. Later on in the text he learns that he shouldn’t have left here and that they are better together. For example on page 505 it states, “I have always loved and I will always love you. I was thinking of you, seeing your face in my mind, every second that I was away. When I tolded you that I didn’t want you, it was the very blackest kind of blasphemy.” This contexts illustrates that love is more important than anything. They are both happier when they are together and that is all that matters.
In conclusion, the book, "New Moon” connects to the outside world because it shows how love can be hard sometimes. In the real world you have to make choices that can change everything, but those choice can be for better or worse. Edward choice to leave Bella made things worse for both of them. Decisions can sometimes be difficult to make for everyone. Have you ever had to make a hard decision?
